The legend of Momotaro (Japan Heritage) is a part of Japan’s cultural and a story that has been told in Okayama since ancient times. Uraja is a festival that has its origins in the tale of Prince Kibitsuhiko-no-mikoto’s extermination of the ogre Ura, the characters that form the model for the legend of Momotaro. Dancers dressed in clothes and face paint that resemble the ogre Ura perform a spectacularly energetic dance.
