Billed as the “only Chikuwa flute player in the world,” Masato Sumitaku has appeared on television around the world. He is also a folk song artist and weather forecaster and brings his wide variety of skills as a story-teller to such events as disaster prevention courses and weather-related courses. In addition to the Chikuwa flute, he is perhaps the only performer who can take a familiar vegetable or fruit like a lotus root, banana or broad bean, fashion it into a flute and provide a performance then and there.
