This art museum is built adjacent to the remains of the Ninomaru annex of Okayama Castle, and is the repository for artifacts from Okayama’s feudal era, passed down from the former ruling Ikeda family, as well as the collection of artworks amassed by Ichiro Hayashibara, one of Okayama’s preeminent businesspersons. Both its appearance and the space it provides give the building a unique elegance and a depth of refinement that only Japanese art can provide. The museum is available for evening receptions only and participants can also enjoy explanations of the exhibits by the curator.
